    Starting another game...
Wow it's been a long time since I posted here. A lot has happened since then. The Gems of the Silver Marches game stopped, I ran an Eberron game that ended in a near-TPK, and started playing in an Iron Heroes game run by Mike H, a Realms game run by my fiancee Kat, and a Star Wars game run by Joe L. I've also put the Out of Place, Out of Time - Time's End game on hiatus until further notice. Now I'm starting another game, Forgotten Realms, with 15th level gestalt characters dealing with the Dragonfall War between Bahamut and Tiamat and its effects in the Realms. A lot to deal with in a short amount of time.

Perhaps I'll post more about the new game here later...

Gems of the Silver Marches Updates #5
When we last left our intrepid band of adventurers, the had managed to follow King Mith Barak the Clanless's silver cord through the Astral Plane into the Outlands. Once in the Outlands, however, the trail of the silver cord had vanished, so the PCs decided to make their way to Sigil to see if they could find any information on either King Mith Barak or his suspected alter ego of Barakith the Traveler. After a few minor trials, the group managed to find itself in Sigil, the City of Doors.

    Bad morning...
Turning out to be a really shitty morning. Woke up with a massive headache, tried to let Kathy know that her shower was running late and ended up getting into a fight, it was pouring on my way to work, and when I finally got to work, ended up locking my keys in the van while it was still running! :( :( :(

This is not turning out to be anywhere near a pleasant day. :(

Gems of the Silver Marches Updates #3
When last we left our heroes, they had finally managed to enter the dwarven city of Iltkazar, but they were still slaves of the Encephalithid - an extremely powerful Elder Brain that ruled the mind flayer city of Oryndoll. The Gloaming Zendilar, the group's Underdark Guide who had brought them from the surface through all three layers of the Underdark, said her goodbyes to the group as the Guild of Underdark Guides had a new assignment for her. The Orog Immish decided to look for mercenary work amongst the dwarves. Crystal the Pixie Sorceress/Healer, Valin the Elven Ranger/Warmage, Gaelreith the Daemonfey Rogue/Wizard, Onyx the 1/2 fiend Rogue/Priestess and Garnet their new Halfling Ranger/Priestess friend decided to see about getting some weapons made from the legendary metal Hizagkuur. These efforts proved less than successful, as Hizagkuur was so rare and in such scarce supply that only King Mith Barak the Clanless, the dwarven king of Iltkazar, could authorize it's sale. The group found out that could be a problem, as "the King sleeps". It seems that King Mith Barak sleeps for 75 out of every 100 years, and actively rules the remaining 25 - a practice that he has had for the previous 1200 years of his rule! The King was supposed to wake 6 years ago, but failed to do so on schedule. The dwarven kingdom has been under the rule of a council in the meantime - a council that has stalled all major decisions requiring the king's approval until the king wakes from his overlong slumber!

Meanwhile, Nox, the Kobold Rogue/Wizard decided to sneak off from the group so that he could get assistance in removing the Encaphalithid's influence from his new companions. Nox's attempts to get the dwarven city guards and priests of Moradin to listen to him were humorous, though ultimately successful. The dwarves were finally able to make some sense of what the little babbling insane kobold was telling them and confirm that the group was indeed a danger to the dwarves in their present condition. The city guard rounded up the rest of the PCs and forced them to remove their weapons and come with them to holding cells where they would have to stay until the extant of the threat they posed to the city could be determined and what would be done about them. The dwarves beat into unconsciousness anyone that resisted their efforts. The Encaphalithid attempted to control the group directly to make the dwarves believe that it was all a misunderstanding, but the dwarven priests and guards were ready for the Eldar Brain's attacks and lies, taking care to protect themselves against mental attacks and dominations and using divination spells to determine the truth of the situation. In the end, the Encephalithid was thwarted by the efforts of the Nox the kobold and the dwarves. The "brain buds" that were implanted into the PCs were surgically removed and the influence of the Encaphalithid upon the PCs was no more. Or was it? Before it's contact with the PCs was forcibly removed, the Encaphalithid vowed revenge upon the group - that they would be his slaves once again in the future.

The PCs, overjoyed at being free from the influence of the Eldar Brain, rented a tavern for the night and threw the largest party that had been seen in Iltkazar in many, many years. Nox and Crystal could be found dancing upon the tables and most of the PCs, as well as many of the dwarves of Iltkazar, had quite a good time. However, Gaelreith seemed more morose and brooding than ever before and the Daemonfey spent nearly the entire night in solitude and silence. During the party, Joshiah Stonefriend - one of the human shopkeepers that the PCs had previously spoken to about obtaining Hizagkuur, approached Valin and told him to visit his shop the next night at 12 bells, as Joshiah might be able to arrange something.

The next day, Immish again went looking for mercenary work, this time taking Nox with him. They finally found a dwarf named Kazdurn who said that a friend of his, Joshiah Stonefriend, was looking for people to take care of a problem he had. Kazdurn told Immish and Nox to meet with Joshiah at his shop at 12 bells that night, when Joshiah would give them details of what he needed and what Immish and Nox would receive in return. Thus, at 12 bells, everyone in the group met at Joshiah Stonefriend's shop. After some initial confusion between Immish, Nox and the rest of the PCs as to what they were all doing there, Joshiah led them through a secret tunnel to a hidden meeting room, where he told the PCs that they could speak without being spied on. Joshiah explained to the PCs that he is part of a group that seeks a way to wake the sleeping king, even using outside help to do so, rather than waiting for the king to wake on his own. The Regency Council, which holds power while the king sleeps, is vehemently opposed to seeking outside help for the situation, likening it to treason. Joshiah explains to the PCs that his group has found, through divinations, that the king does not actually sleep for 75 years, but travels astrally amongst the various planes of existence. Their divinations have told them that the king's astral form has somehow been prevented from returning to his body, which is why the king failed to "wake" 6 years ago at the appointed time. If the PCs are willing, Joshiah's friends can use their mental powers to send them astrally travelling as well, tieing them to the silver cord of the king. They can travel along the astral cord, find out what has prevented the king from returning, and assist him in returning to his body. In exchange, it is likely that they would have the gratitude of the king as well as the entire dwarven city. At the very least, it is likely that the king would then authorize the sale of Hizagkuur weapons to the PCs.

The PCs agreed to travel astrally along the king's silver cord and assist the king's return to his body. Joshiah took them to a room further in the complex, which he explained was actually part of the royal palace itself. Joshiah's friends would look after their bodies while travelling astrally. Crystal decided that her pseudodragon familiar would also watch after their bodies and not travel astrally with her. The dwarven psions in Joshiah's group then used their powers and the PCs found themselves in a silvery void - the astral plane. Each of the PCs had a silver cord extending out from the base of their necks, which was tied to a larger silver cord. Both their cords as well as the one they were tied to vanished after about 5 feet. However, the PCs found that if they moved more than 5 feet away from the silver cord they were following, they could still sense its presence. Also, they found that movement in the Astral Plane was based entirely upon thought - a fact which Nox delighted in, as it made him one of the fastest moving PCs amongst the group.

After spending some time getting used to their new environment, the PCs sped along the silver cord as fast as they could, travelling for what seemed like weeks in the silver void, though time itself was difficult to keep track of in the silver void. After some time, the silver void itself seemed to ripple and undulate - with the rippling effect closing in on the PCs. As the astral storm hit the group, many of them were tossed about and suffered it's ill effects as the storm battered their very consciousness, stunning them with pain and whipping them away from the main part of the group. When the affected PCs recovered, it took them even longer to reunite with those that had been able to withstand the mental storm. Not long after the group began travelling again, they came across a large rock within the astral plane upon which were a few buildings. The silver cord of the king seemed to pass straight through the mass, so the PCs decided to investigate. The place turned out to be a forge setup by a box-like creature known as a modron. This creature, which called itself Zess, told the PCs that it forged and enchanted weapons in mass quantities for clients. The PCs asked it and it's associates if they had seen a dwarf named Mith Barak travel through here within the past 81 years. The modron mentioned that a dwarf matching that description placed an order 73 years ago and had it delivered to the prime material plane. The PCs decided they were on the right track, but that Mith Barak was well ahead of them. The travelled on, following the silver cord as it twisted and turned throughout the astral plane. The king's silver cord drew close to several color pools - pools leading to other planes, and the PCs suspected the king may have travelled into those planes and came out again. Depending on how much time the king had spent in each of those planes, the amount of time that had passed on the astral plane between them and the king could shorten considerably.

Still following the king's astral cord, the PCs spotted something on the horizon of the silver void that gave them cause for concern - a githyanki pirate ship heading straight for them. Knowing that the githyanki were masters of their element within the Astral Plane, the group realized they had to act fast to avoid becoming slaves again - this time of the githyanki and their dreaded lich queen. With some quick thinking and even quicker spellcasting, the PCs put themselves far ahead and well out of site of the pirate ship.

Will the PCs be able to catch up to the errant king? What could have prevented a dwarven king that has been able to live for over 1200 years from returning to his real body? Will the PCs be driven out of their skulls by the seemingly endless silver void? Find out in the next installment. :)

    More on the new vehicle....
Okay, let me explain that I am simultaneously excited about owning a new vehicle, yet fearful of the cost of owning said vehicle. I realize that Kathy needed another vehicle - her car likely won't last another 6 months, much less a year. However, this is the single largest purchase I have ever made in my life. For all of my previous vehicles, I have either had them handed-down from my parents or have paid another owner directly, and it has never been more than $1000. It's a little staggering to me to think about paying over $300 a month for 72 months for a vehicle. I never thought we would be approved for financing and I never thought we'd get this nice of a vehicle, much less an SUV. It's an extremely nice vehicle - too nice. I keep thinking that there's gotta be something wrong with it, or that we'll never be able to afford it or the insurance, or a hundred other things. In short, I'm still in shock over the whole process...

    We got a new vehicle...
Well, Kathy and I finally have another vehicle. Kathy really needed a new one, and we finally got financed for it. So we will now be paying on a 2001 Sante Fe for the next 6 years... Looks like I'll have to put off upgrading my computer for awhile and we won't be able to attend Origins this year. However, GenCon is already paid for, so we'll still be able to go to that one. I never thought I'd own an SUV, but more on this later. Gotta get back to work.

Gems of the Silver Marches Update #2
When we last left our intrepid heroes, all of them except for Crystal, the pixie, had been mind-blasted into unconsciousness. Crystal flew away invisibily back to the Slith city, then watched as most of the city succumbed to the mind flayer assault. Those slith that had powerful enough druidic abilities to leave fled by magical means, but the mind flayers came away with a good number of new slaves, including all but one of the PCs. Crystal, seeing the slaves led away, decided to follow invisibily. The mind flayer, their warriors and the newly captured slaves traveled for some distance down a large side-tunnel, then passed through a portal. Crystal decided to follow them through the portal and almost immediately regretted it, as it led straight to the mind-flayer city of Oryndoll. Once inside the city itself, Crystal almost immediately fell prey to the mental onslaughts of The Encephalithid - the elder brain of the city.

Crystal and the rest of the PCs woke up sometime later in a slave cell. The cell's only other occupant was a female halfling half-mad due to fear and the near-constant mental lashings and coercions of the elder brain. Crystal, feeling pity for the poor halfling, healed both the halflings body and mind. Once finally coherant, the halfling explained that her name was Garnet and that the she and several other companions were adventuring in the Shining South when the encountered a group of mind-flayers that dispatched her party with their mind-blast attacks. When Garnet and her companions awoke, they found themselves in this cell. One by one, her companions were taken from the cell and never seen or heard from again. Now, she was the last of her group and feared they would take her next.

After some time, a voice from near the cell-grate stated that it might be able to help them, if in turn they helped it. Imish, the orog fighter | sorcerer (I forgot his name the last post) decided to cast a Detect Invisibility spell and was surprised to see a kobold hanging from the ceiling inside the cell, right in front of the grate. The kobold mentioned their possible fates as food or slaves of the mind-flayers, then scampered off. At this point, The Encephalithid, a.k.a. "The Brain", mentally 'introduced' himself to the PCs and their new halfling friend. It mentioned that it had seen the resistance the PCs had put up during the mind-flayer assault of Fluvenilstra and that it might have a use for them besides simply as food. It then mentally blasted the PCs into unconsciousness.

After the PCs woke up, the strange kobold returned and the PCs noticed that Zolgrim, their dwarven companion, was missing. The kobold told them that he was likely taken as food for the mind-flayers. The kobold introduced himself as a broken experiment of the mind-flayers. Somehow, something that they did to the kobold caused it so that he no longer heard the Elder Brain’s voice in his head, but a different voice entirely. Somehow, this voice seemed to protect him from the influence of the Elder Brain and the other mind flayers. The kobold seemed to think that the PCs were being treated very differently than normal and might be his ticket to leaving the city safely. The kobold explained some of the “politics” amongst the mind-flayer divisions, or Creeds, within the city - including the fact that the mind-flayer that captured them was a direct rival and future potential threat to the Elder Brain’s power. Sus’sur’oth, the mind flayer that led the raid upon Fluvenilstra, was held in high reverence by the Venerator Creed since he was spawned during the time that their god Ilsensine had sent an avatar to the city. The kobold then once again brought up the idea of mutual assistance. If he helped the PCs to escape from the city, would they take him with them during their travels? Since he had lived his entire life within Oryndoll, the kobold had no knowledge of what was outside the city itself and simultaneously longed for, yet feared freedom. The PCs told the kobold about their equipment, in the hopes that he might be able to help them escape, and the kobold scampered off to find their stuff.

The Elder Brain then made itself known again. It told the group that they had two choices: they could either be his servants during their travels outside the city, or they could end up as brain-food like their dwarven companion. The Elder Brain needed to find out what was going on in the tunnels several weeks west of Oryndoll, as his none of his regular scouts ever returned from there. It suspected the possibility of a Githyanki or Githzerai settlement, but was unable to confirm any information. It seems that Zolgrim had told the Elder Brain exactly what he could do with his idea of sending the PCs to scout for him and the Elder Brain didn’t care for his suggestion. The Elder Brain then told the group that it would graciously allow them time to think over their decision.

Shortly afterwards, the kobold appeared again. The little reptilian told them that it was unable to obtain their equipment, as there were many mind-flayers of various Creeds going over their stuff. The PCs then told the kobold of the “deal” that the Elder Brain wished to make with them. The kobold agreed that it was not much of a choice, but that as long as they were alive, freedom was always a possibility. This the group reluctantly agreed with, though everyone had their misgivings about what such a deal might entail. The kobold then agreed to wait for them just outside the western portion of the city itself.

Soon enough, the Elder Brain contacted them again and the PCs reluctantly agreed to the deal. The PCs were then taken from their cells and led to an area where, to their horror, a tiny bud of the Elder Brain was surgically implanted into the base of each of their skulls and a psionic Geas was laid upon them, forcing them to obey the Elder Brain and keeping them from working against it or doing it harm in any way, shape, or fashion. After the horrifying experience was finished, the PCs were given quarters in the section of the city reserved for favored slaves and their equipment was returned to them intact.

After the PCs had rested from their ordeal and knowing they had no choice in the matter, they left the city of Oryndoll and started traveling westwards, where they met up once again with the kobold. Several days travel westwards, the Elder Brain contacted them once again. It seemed as if their bud brain implants acted as a magnifier and enhanced receiver for the Elder Brain’s mental powers. It told them that there were several mind-flayers of the Venerator Creed approaching their direction and it wanted the PCs to kill them. However, they were to keep the heads intact and bring the heads with them upon their journey. In very little time, the PCs made very short work of the mind-flayers and the kobold impressed them by summoning a huge tentacled centipede into existence.

Continuing their travel westwards, they found themselves traveling upwards even more and eventually into the Middledark portion of Faerun’s Underdark. Soon they recognized stonework that had a distinct dwarven craftsmanship to it and came to a large cross-road in the eastern portion of what used to be the ancient dwarven kingdom of Old Shanatar – specifically the portion that used to be occupied by Clan Duergar. Thousands of years previously, the mind-flayers of Oryndoll enslaved Clan Duergar and experimented with them, creating what is now known as Duergar Dwarves. Eventually, however, their experiments broke free, only to turn against their dwarven brethren – destroying most of Old Shanatar in the process. The southern path of the cross-road would take the PCs to the city of Iltkazar, while the western path would take them to the old dwarven realm of Torlor. The PC’s Underdark Guide, Zandilar, tried to take the southern path, but immediately received a mental message warning her not to do so. She also received a strong mental jolt to reinforce the Elder Brain’s warning.

Realizing that they didn’t have any choice in the matter, the group continued westwards, until they spotted a fortress city before them. Guarding the gates to the city were two githyanki and perched above the gates themselves was a very large red dragon. Though the githyanki were suspicious of the outsiders, they accepted the group as mind-flayer hunters when Imish presented the mind-flayer heads they had taken outside of Oryndoll. The group was told to keep to the general store and taphouse/inn – anything beyond that and the PCs would have trouble with the soldiers. While at the inn, Imish managed to wheedle some information out of the bartender – any non-githyanki found outside the designated areas were captured and pressed into service as slaves, and that the githyanki had the assistance of three red dragons, each of them watching portions of the city. The group decided that the Elder Brain wanted them to scout out as much of the city as possible and proceeded to split their forces to maximize their effective scouting area in the shortest time possible. Soon enough, the PCs had the entire fortress scouted out, with neither the githyanki or the red dragons the wiser. They found that although most of the githyanki were soldiers, there were a number of non-combatants within the city itself. Also, the githyanki had rebuilt and fortified a much larger portion of the city than what they were using at the moment, as if getting the city itself ready for a lot more inhabitants. While this disturbed the group, the main hope was that if more githyanki did arrive, they might wage a war against the mind-flayers of Oryndoll and hopefully free them of their attachment to the Elder Brain.

After their scouting work was finished, the Elder Brain contacted them once again, congratulating them on their success. As a reward, it told them, it would allow them to do as they wished, for now. After much deliberation, the group decided to stick with their original idea of traveling to Iltkazar to gain the material and weapons necessary to destroy the Malaugrym which had caused them so much trouble. Traveling many more weeks southwards and upwards, the group eventually made their way to the Upperdark portion of Faerun’s Underdark. At long last and after much hardship, they finally entered the magnificent dwarven city of Iltkazar with the hope that perhaps they might find assistance not only in gaining weapons made out of the legendary metal Hizagkuur – a substance anathema to Malaugrym, but also with their new problem as slaves of the Encephalithid.

What are the Encephalithid’s plans for the PCs? Will they be able to obtain the legendary metal Hizagkuur? With their minds laid bare before a foe to all of the sunlight races, will the PCs ever be able to return home? Will the kobold traveling with the group gain a real name? Perhaps we'll find out in the next update.

Some days are not so bad as they first appear...
Well, today started out like it was going to be a pretty ugly day. I woke up with a massive headache, then Kathy said that she wasn't feeling well and wouldn't be going in to work. Okay, I can deal with that. Took too long in the shower, so I was starting to run late. Cruised close to 90 on 465 and managed to get here on time and with a few minutes to spare. Cool. The phones are not horridly busy today, so that's pretty decent. Then I got a little award package from our QA dept. handed to me for doing so well on my calls lately. Very Cool! Now things are starting to look up. The only downside to this is whenever we get these little certificates, we should be able to submit the bottom stub to be entered into a drawing for other cool stuff. Unfortunately, since I'm still a temp/contractor, I cannot enter those drawings. Oh well. As it is, I am now down to 1 month before I can apply to this job as a permanent position. :) I guess a shitty starting day can get better. :)

    Tired, at work again....
Okay, it's Monday again and I'm attempting not to fall asleep at work as tired as I am (Big Surprise there...). I have got to learn to go to bed at a decent hour, even on weekends. Saturday game went rather well (I'll post more about that later), but then I decided to stay up after the game until around 6:00 am on Sunday. Don't ask me why, 'cause I don't have a good answer. Anyways, woke up around noon on Sunday with a good-sized headache and didn't really do much of anything all day, 'cept get further on Lord of the Final Fantasies. :) I let slide on a lotta stuff I'll probably catch hell for later, but I wasn't really in a mood to care. Got to bed around midnight last night, then had to be up at 6:45 this morning. Why I put myself through this, I don't know. Someday, I'll learn, but till then sleep is for the weak. :)

I found out this morning that the cats had gotten into the unopened bag of food and have been eating out of it for who knows how long. :( I'll have to figure out what to do about that when I get home as well.

    Oh well, back to work.

Gems of the Silver Marches Update
Well, we're in the second major phase of my current campaign. In order to find a special material necessary to combat the Malaugrym that have caused the players so many problems in the 1st part of the campaign, the group has ventured into the Underdark to seek out the dwarven realm of Iltkazar. From the forest of Cormanthor, the PCs have found an entrance into the Underdark and were making their way southwest to a portal when they ran across a very, very large group of drow and undead. The PCs actually managed to talk their way past the drow and take a portal they thought would bring them to the southwest portion of Faerun's Upperdark, which would be relatively close to Iltkazar. Unfortunately for the PCs, someone had changed the portal's destination, which dumped them into the Pit of Jhaam in the southeast portion of Faerun's Lowerdark. With enough PC's with flight capability, they managed to successfully find a ledge to land on and managed to get their bearings.

When the PCs guide realized where they were, she decided to try and avoid as much of the Lowerdark's unpleasantness as she could. The group snuck past the Aboleth and Skum city of Dupapn, only to find that the illithid city of Oryndoll lay before them. While attempting to possibly skirt around the city without attracting undue attention, the PC's came across a hunting party of Desmodu, who agreed to take the PCs back to their village and shelter them for the night. The next morning the PCs met with the shamans and tribal leaders of the Desmodu, who told them of a portal to the east that led to the Slith city of Fluvenilstra. Although the city of Fluvenilstra was almost in the opposite direction of where they wanted to go, the PCs decided to try and find out if the Sliths knew a way around the illithid city. Unfortunately for the PCs, the Desmodu village was already under the control of the mind-flayers and was using the PCs as bait and a distraction while the slave forces of the mind-flayers attacked the city of Fluvenilstra itself. The Sliths, noting that the attack arrived shortly after they granted entrance to the PCs and their Desmodu guide, sent the PCs to the front lines to take out as many mind-flayers as they possibly could.

During the assault, the PCs made their way through enemy lines, setting free one a small group of Orog slaves. After deposing of mind-flayer controlled puppet leader, a charismatic Fighter | Sorcerer Orog whose name escapes me at the moment. After dispersing his new followers, the Orog joined up with the group to assist in the assault on the mind flayers themselves. The PCs managed to sneak their way past the giants the mind-flayers were using as artillary and into the mind-flayer camp itself. After a false start attack on a clever illusion, the PCs began attacking the mind-flayers themselves. All was going well until the lead mind flayer began using an Ultra Mind Blast attack that started dropping PCs like flies. In short, all but one of the PCs was dropped to unconsciousness and captured. The attack on the city was mostly a success and a good number of Sliths were captured. The one remaining PC, a pixie that stayed invisible and flying, decided to follow the raiding army as it passed back through a portal. After passing through the portal, the pixie found herself in the mind-flayer city itself. The eldar brain controlling the city detected the pixie and soon scrambled her synapses as well.

Now that the entire party has been captured by mind-flayers, what will happen to the PCs? I'll post more as the game itself develops.

    It's finally the weekend!!!
Well, it's finally Friday and I can unwind from work and concentrate on the important things in life like gaming. :) We tried to play Joe LaPage's game tonight, but I don't think that either I or Kathy were entirely in the mood for it. My mind kept wandering to planning for my own game tomorrow (now later on tonight - I just noticed that it was past midnight already) and Kathy just got too tired. I know she's not been getting enough sleep lately, which worries me a bit, but what can I do about it? Oh well.

Tomorrow's game is looking to be rather interesting. With Mike Hirsch and Stephanie joining Kathy, Joe LaPage and Michael Loy (who just joined last game session), my player count is now up to a respectable 5 players. Mike has an interesting character that could possibly get things going in a completely different direction - a kobold diviner / alienist | rogue (The | mark is to show separate columns for a gestalt character). This is the first time in this game that I'll be bringing in elements of the Far Realm. It's kind of funny that all of the games that I'm running at the moment have at least some elements of the Far Realm within them. Guess I've just got Cthulu on the brain. :-E

I think I'll start adding face-to-face game updates here as well...

    Mind Fried
Okay, my mind has now officially been declared as fried. I decided to open a link someone posted to the Friends of Gencon Yahoo Group.

This just goes to show music, star trek actors and hobbits don't mix!

    ACK!
    Finally! Break Time at work....

It's been a hectic day thus far. I feel like my brain is frying due to the constant accessing of information. Hopefully I won't have a hard drive crash. :-|

Tiredness and reflections on the weekend
Wow am I tired this morning. My schedule recently changed to 8:00-4:30, which means that Kathy and I are going in at the same time. This also means that one of us has to get up early so that we can both have our showers in the morning. We're supposed to alternate, but the past couple of days Kathy hasn't been able to bring herself to get up that early, so I've been letting her sleep in and getting up first instead... Typically, one of us has to get up and be in the shower by 6:00 am at the latest. For me, that means the alarm is going off at 5:45. When you don't get to bed until 11:00pm-Midnight, it tends to start taking it's toll.

I worked on some stuff for the Return of the Dark One game last night, got Safana's character sheet posted to the DM-only portion of the board, and started reading more Sandstorm. Sandstorm, by the way, is a really cool D&D supplement that Jeff Bailey (Sisyphus X) got me over the weekend. Kathy still has a problem with that. He invited us up for the weekend for his birthday, and then proceeded to pay for everything while we were up there. He even bought me Sandstorm and Kathy Blue Rose and Chez Goth. Kathy tried to insist that we pay for our food and such, but Jeff wasn't having any of it. I don't have a problem with him paying for stuff. I figure, if he's happy doing so, I'm not gonna argue with him about it. I'll just be grateful and thank him for his generosity. (If you didn't hear me the first few times, Thanks Jeff!)

    Good News!
Well, things are going rather well at work (I'm actually typing from there at the moment. I've just had a meeting with the manager of the area I work in, and things are looking rather good. I shouldn't have any problems getting hired on permanently when the position becomes available on the 15th of July.

Got back recently from a trip to Chicago to celebrate Jeff's birthday. As usual whenever Jeff is involved, I was introduced to a few new games - this time Carcasonne and Ticket to Ride. Didn't care much for Ticket to Ride - got screwed over by the person who was teaching the game. Liked Carcasonne. Also learned to play Chez Geek, which is a fun game. Also as usual with Jeff, Kathy and I came away with new aquisitions - myself the Sandstorm supplement for D&D, Kathy with Blue Rose and Chez Goth. I also bought myself the base Munchkin game, and talked Kathy and Joe LaPage into playing it with me. Extremely amusing game.... :)

Met two new individuals on Monday that are interested in joining my Saturday game - Stephanie and Mike. Both of them seem pretty cool, so that's a big plus. I don't think we'll have any problems.

Gotta go, gotta get back to work.

Morning - Getting Ready for Work
Bleh! 5:30 came way too early, like I thought last night. I couldn't even drag my sorry butt out of bed until 5:45. Getting ready for work now, but still not quite as coherant as I'd hope to be... Today at work is the last day of six weeks of training, and our "class" gets to all go out to eat lunch somewhere together. The majority of us chose Olive Garden. I think I'm getting spoiled by this new job - they seem to truly appreciate us. Yesterday, the existing CSRs bought pizza, salad and cake for us newbies, which was very cool. Once I get permanently hired on, things will be absolutely great. BTW: New job is at Adminastar Federal, which is a subdivision of Anthem/Wellpoint. Check them out: http://www.adminastar.com and http://www.anthem.com

    1st Post!
Okay, after thinking about it for a LOOONNNNGGGG time, I finally got myself one of these LiveJournals I've heard about.... Probably not going to update it very often (something that, pbp game-wise, I'm notorious for), but I figured I'd at least give it a shot. Well, I have to get to bed, as 5:30 comes way too soon. I'll be glad when my schedule changes next week and I won't have to get up until 7:30, at the earliest!
